Program
Phyllis introduced Nathan Montgomery, Executive Director of Salt & Light Ministries. Nathan presented information on their Gleanings Food Co-0p program. Among its many charitable programs, Salt & Light has provided a food pantry for many years. The food Pantry served up to 400 Families every Wednesday, and it now has taken on an added direction.
Now the participants will gain access to the pantry/store after earning store credits by working at local non-profit organizations. With this emphasis, the participants are not only receiving food and clothing but are giving something back to the community.
Salt & Light’s Gleaning’s program contains this new emphasis to engage poverty and help the participants to use their abilities to provide food and clothing for themselves and family. Salt & Light believes each participant has something to offer and that will help improve their self-dignity and find purpose in their lives. This shift has been in the planning stages for two years and requires new thinking and actions. Salt & Light provides the needed education and peer support for the participants.
For more information please visit their wed site or contact Jennifer Milazzo at Jennifer@salt and light ministry.org.
At the end of the program, President Tod presented Nathan a check from the club’s bucket money.
