From: DG Gordon to All District 6490 Rotarians

I am pleased to convey this information to you about a special event being held in Zone 30 in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, on March 9, 2013. The three Rotary clubs in Oak Ridge and District 6780 will hold a Peace Forum and RIP Sakuji Tanaka will be present. As far as DG Jack Bailey knows, this is the only locally sponsored forum in the continental U.S. that President Tanaka will attend. DG Jack and the Peace Forum Committee extends a cordial invitation to all Rotarians in Zones 30 and 31 to participate.
Here is a link and registration information for the Peace Forum. Please circulate this information widely in your district.

Peace Fellow Allison Kwesell (sponsored by D6780) will be coming in from Japan. She is a photojournalist and frequent contributor to The Rotarian magazine. Karen Wentz, Zone 30 Rotary Coordinator will be moderating the Peace Through Human Service panel, which includes U.S. Ambassador (ret.) Charles Richard Bowers, PDG; Ambassadorial Scholar alumnus Jake Bohstedt Morrill, pastor of the Oak Ridge Unitarian-Universalist Church; and Professor William Hodge, University of Alabama Tuscaloosa, Director of the Consumer Conflict Management, Negotiation, and Mediation graduate program.

The moderator for the Peace Through Science and Technology panel will be Dr. Jim Roberto, Associate Laboratory Director for Science and Technology Partnerships, Oak Ridge National Laboratory.

In addition to the panels, the forum will feature small group discussions during a working lunch and a wrap-up session designed to give participants practical ideas to apply in their communities and clubs.

District 6780 Governor G Jack Bailey and the Peace Forum Committee look forward to seeing many of you and Rotarians from your district at the forum.

Any questions may be directed to Karen Wentz at 865-567-9571 or rotarykaren6780@yahoo.com.

Rotary Regards and Happy New Year.
