PROGRAM

Our speaker, Dan Sholem is a graduate of Central High School,
Southern, and St. Louis University in Finance.  He is the owner of DR
Sholem and Co., based here in Champaign, specializing in Equipment
Financing.

In 1990 he began his career with the Pegasus Capitol Organization in
San Francisco financing airline equipment and moved onto assist
companies in Silicon Valley.

Dan illustrated the”gotchas” in leasing with examples.  In order to
not add debt to their balance sheets companies lease with a low
monthly payment. But, due to technology improvements or in the case of
buried earth dome equipment a company might be forced to “buy out” the
lease.

Dan specializes in solution oriented leases so that companies can
negotiate for flexibility. His focus is on helping CFO’s answer
questions such as equipment use, company assets, etc. to determine the
best decisions in acquiring equipment.

He admitted that inspecting equipment – gadgets and toys, was one of
the things he likes most about his job.
