Announcements (courteous of the distinguished gentleman from Connecticut, Ed Perry)

Tod Satterthwaite was introduced as our newest member. Tod and his family have made Urbana-Champaign their home for all their life. Tod is the owner/operator of Kickapoo landing in Kickapoo State Park in Oakwood, Il. and lives in Champaign. He has been involved in both private and public positions. Tod has always been involved in service organizations and looks forward to our morning meetings and providing service above self.

Paul and Diana are are Co-Captains for this year’s Bowl-A-Thon fundraiser for Big Brothers and Big Sisters. Our club has helped over the years and we will again have a members from the club formed a bowling team or two to help with the fundraising. Friday evening the 2nd of March is the date to put on your calendar.

Barb announced that the Read Across American will that place on Saturday the 3rd of March from 8am to 1pm. We need volunteer readers and again our club will contribute a rocker.

Ata announced that Tanya Gould and her son, Peter, are doing a fundraiser for the homeless “One Winter Night”. Ata will send out a group email with the information.

President Bruce announced several volunteering opportunities for club members:

A. Rotary District 6490 Alumni Association Fundraiser this year is called “Project Londrina”. Bruce will send out further information.

B. Carle Hospice has requested volunteers and any one interested should contact Justin Reed,justin.reed@carle.com ,telephone number 383-3151.

C. Our Interact Club has requested help getting snacks for their Charity Formal Dance at the Savoy Rec Center on Saturday, January 28th from 7:00-9:30.  The dance will benefit

Habitat for Humanity.  Have a great day/week!

 

Program

Today was a Club Assembly where the members broke into committees and discussed plans and activities and then shared the information with the club.

Cary, Director of Club Service, annouced the various activities that committee is providing and noted that Rueben has agreed to head the membership committee. Bruce touched on Vocational ServiceInternational Service andNew Generations Service activities. Ed noted the various aactivities that are under Community Service umbrella. These activities include Big Brothers Big Sisters Bowl-A-Thon, Read Across America, Young Learner Volunteers, Eastern Illinois Foodbank food sorting, RYLA volunteers, Decker Garden Spring Clean up and planting, helping our Rotoract Club at Central High School and a possible environmental fundraiser this summer.
