Penn was in a bicycle accident at his winter home in Naples, FL. He was riding near his home and though they aren’t sure exactly what happened, they think the brakes stuck a he approached an intersection and Penn was thrown head over the handlebars. No one else was involved as best as they can determine. A nurse happened to be in the area and called the ambulance. Penn had bleeding around his brain and five broken ribs. Cindy flew down to Florida to be with her parents. Originally, Penn was at a local hospital but he was later airlifted to a medical center in Fort Myers. Cindy said that when she walked into the ICU, Penn looked okay! Not what she was expecting. That’s our tough guy, Penn! He is talking but doesn’t remember much about the accident. However, due to the nature of the internal injuries, the medical staff wanted to monitor his progress. Cindy says that Penn will be heading home to Naples in the next few days. Cindy will fly back to Champaign on Monday. Barb is doing well under the circumstances.
I asked what we could send from here and Cindy said really funny cards would be great and are exactly what Penn would love. So, I will pick up a card for us to sign on Thursday but if anyone wants to send a card on your own, use the following mailing address:

768 Landover Circle, #201
Naples, FL 34104

Cindy asked that flowers NOT be sent, though the thought is appreciated.

Please keep Penn, Barb and Cindy in your prayers.
