NOTES

(notes provided by the unorthodox and unconventional Paulie Conforti)

On Thursday February 27 we will not have a morning meeting. Instead, we are all invited to Lodgic at 6:30pm for our club’s “Leap Into Karaoke” fundraiser. Proceeds will benefit CU Schools Foundation music programs. If you are preforming or part of the set up crew please be at Lodgic by 6pm.

Saturday February 29th our club will participate in the 20th annual Read Across America at Lincoln Square Mall. Michelle is happy to report that she has filled all of our spots at this event.

Our club presented a check for $3,150 to Rob Dalhaus, Executive Director of CU at Home and the Phoenix Day Shelter. Proceeds from our fruit sale and bucket money funded this donation. CU at Home just completed their annual fundraiser, One Winter’s Night, and our donation helped Rob get significantly closer to the goal he set: $329,000 towards their $350,000 goal.

Rob was asked if there were any non-monetary donations needed and accepted by CU at Home. He said hats, gloves, socks, new underwear and specific gift cards. $5 fast food gift cards are accepted and are distributed for meals. $25 Walmart gift cards are used in their transitional housing program for kitchen and bed items.

Eddie’s daughter Nicole is heading up Prosperity Gardens (302 N First St, Champaign) in conjunction with Champaign Township and a grant they received. Through neighborhood farming, Prosperity Gardens is dedicated to cultivating a healthy community through education, collaboration and employment opportunities. Eddie mentioned this because Prosperity Gardens will work with CU at Home regarding education and jobs.
