Thank you for caring about the homeless. In just 1 week we will once again be doing a community-wide survey of the homeless. This activity is the key to helping us identify those who are most vulnerable, most at risk of dying unless their circumstances change.
The survey is actually a powerful experience for many who volunteer. Surveying a homeless person basically means giving them the opportunity to share their story with you. You will learn more about homelessness by volunteering for a couple of hours during the survey than many people learn in a lifetime. . .
Please. We still need LOTS of help with the survey next week. Here are some major times that we need you to volunteer:
Surveying
Monday: 10am-1pm, we still need 4 additional volunteers (Daily Bread Soup Kitchen)
Monday: noon-3pm, we still need 6 additional volunteers (Restoration Urban Ministries)
Tuesday: 10am-1pm, we still need 6 additional volunteers (Daily Bread Soup Kitchen)
Tuesday: noon-3pm, we still need 6 additional volunteers (Restoration Urban Ministries)
Wednesday: 10am-1pm, we still need 5 additional volunteers (Daily Bread Soup Kitchen)
Data Entry
ANY TIME 8am-8pm, Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday
You can SIGN UP HERE to help out with the survey. Please consider giving even just 2 hours of your time. It’s a great way to learn more about homelessness, by hearing each person’s heart-wrenching story or by typing it into a computer.
Each person volunteering for the survey or for data entry needs to attend our Survey Training at 2pm on Sunday, October 21. All survey activities, including training, will begin or take place entirely at survey headquarters. We will be using Twin City Bible Church – Midtown. The address is 24 East Green St. It is right next to Talecris Plasma. The best way to park is to enter from the Boneyard BBQ driveway off of Springfield Avenue. This is the south drive that is immediately east of the railroad viaduct near Neil St. Follow the signs for parking and to get to the right room in the right building.
