Darrell introduced prospective member Jarrod Scheunemann.   Jarrod moved here from Wisconsin in 2007.   He is the Assistant to the Executive Director of the Park District. Jarrod is sponsored by Andrew.

June 25, “Pass the Gavel” event will be held at 5:30 PM at the Decker Garden.   It will be live streamed on Face Book.

PROGRAM

 

Darrell introduced Dean Plumadore from the Champaign County Sports Car Club.   Founded in 1957, it is one of the oldest continuous running sports car clubs.

 

CC Sports Car Club has about 100 paid members who accumulate points towards end of year trophies.   Not all drive “power” cars.  There are 25 different classes.   Speeds average 35-40 miles per hour as members navigate through agility courses.  The club is known for its autocross event held at the Rantoul airfield each year.   Dean said the events are low risk and reasonably affordable.

 

They offer classroom instruction and one-on-one training with experienced drivers.   They also award about $3,000 per year in scholarships to Auto Tech students.
