Has your club initiated a new project that you would like to tell other clubs about? Do you have an outstanding member whom we should get to know? Nominating a club for a District Achievement Award is a way of sharing your club’s great ideas with other clubs in the district. Nominating a member of your club for a district award not only thanks and recognizes that individual, but gives inspiration to the rest of us!

Nominations are being accepted for club achievement in any of the five avenues of service or for the best use of social media. A club nomination for < strong>Club Service should describe activities such as membership, orientation or fellowship. A club nomination for Community Service may include activities such as literacy or other community service projects. Nominations for Vocational recognition should include activities such as career development or scholarship. Nominations for International Service should describe activities such as international service projects or Group Study Exchange. Nominations for New Generations should include your club’s work with Early Act, Interact, Rotaract, RYLA or Youth Exchange. Nominations for best use of social media may show how your club uses FaceBook,Twitter or a blog.

Awards for individual recognition are in the categories of New Rotarian of the Year, Rotarian of the Year or Hall of Honor. To be nominated for New Rotarian of the Year, an individual shall have completed at least 15 months but not more than 24 months of membership at the time of nomination. To be nominated for Rotarian of of the Year, an individual must have been a Rotarian for at least 2 years. Nominations for Hall of Honor must be for individuals who have been in Rotary for at least 7 years and have made significant contributions to both his or her club and the District.

If your club has a relationship with an exceptional Rotaract or Interact Club you may nominate that club for an Outstanding Rotaract or Interact Club award. These awards will be given based on a club’s achievement relative to its size.

In recognition of this year’s Rotary theme, Governor Bidner will also be giving out an Outstanding Club Peace Recognition and an Outstanding Rotarian Peace Recognition.

Nominations in the form of narratives describing the above activities should be directed to 6490awards@gmail.com by March 4, 2013. Questions may be directed to Mary Hodson, District Awards Committee Chair at 217-493-6957.
