Local Rotary Relief Efforts for Florida: Scott noted that John Calderon was able to drive a large box truck with tarps and other materials to Florida to help with the Ian hurricane relief effort. 

 

Local Rotary Clubs are arranging a World Polio Day activity on October 24 at the Museum of the Grand Prairie at Lake of the Woods Forest Preserve in Mahomet.

 

Rotary Leadership Institute Part 1 and 2 is scheduled for October 29; see Scott for further information.

 

Urbana Rotary Club is having a Whiskey Tasting Fundraiser on November 5. For tickets and additional information contact Mary Ellen Wuellner of the Urbana Rotary club at mewuellner@gmail.com

 

CU Sunrise Charter banquet is scheduled for November 10. 

 

The supplier of the oranges and grapefruit for our annual fundraiser was not affected by the recent hurricane so shipments will be made as scheduled. A box of Fruit will be selling for $30 so get ready to start selling.  See Chief Fruithead Robb for details.

 

Bucket Bucks this month will go to the Chez Veterans Center on campus.

 

CU Sunrise continues to maintain a strong third place in the multi-club football prognostication contest.

 

Service Projects

 

The annual Don Decker Garden fall cleanup took place last Saturday with enthusiastic CU Sunrise gardeners pulling up annuals, trimming of perennials and low growing evergreens, planting of daffodils, refreshing the garden’s edges and spreading of compost. 

 

The Books to Prisoners project will be October 18 from 5 to 7pm. A signup sheet will be available at his week’s meeting.

 

Central High School’s Interact Club’s 7th annual Turkey Trot fundraiser will take place Saturday, November 19, at Crystal Lake Park in Urbana. Proceeds will be donated to Courage Connection. Michelle will have a signup sheet to help as we get closer to race day.
